I. Rocket Fire at Civilian Targets in Israel

September 7-8: Fifteen mortar bombs were fired at Israeli targets near the security fence. Some damage was caused to a kibbutz in the Kerem Shalom area. On September 6, two Kassam rockets were fired at Sderot, with one landing in a schoolyard. Three people were treated for shock. One IDF soldier suffered shrapnel injuries when terrorists fired eight mortar shells towards Sderot in the evening.

September 3: An exceptional number of Kassam rockets were launched at Sderot on the second day of the school year, with the express intention of disrupting the lives of the children. A total of nine rockets were between 6 am and 1 pm, two at 7:50, when thousands of children and babies with their parents were on their way to schools and day-care centers. Shortly afterwards, a rocket landed next to a kindergarten, causing damage to the building and sending 12 children to the hospital to be treated for shock.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, exulting that it was a "gift" to the children of Israel for the opening of the school year.

August 28, a rocket hit a bedroom in Sderot, moderately wounding a resident standing nearby. Several people were treated for shock. On August 25, a car went up in flames as a result of rocket fire. There was a direct hit on a house in Sderot on August 24.

August 21: Kassam rockets hit a factory in Sderot’s industrial area, causing extensive damage. Three Kassam rockets struck the western Negev, one hitting a kindergarten in Sderot. The children were not present at the time, due to the summer vacation, and no injuries were reported.

August 20: A planned terrorist attack on an Israeli moshav was thwarted by the IDF: Two terrorists using a rope ladder climbed over the security fence near the Erez Crossing. Three organizations claimed joint responsibility for the attack: the Popular Resistance Committees, Fatah, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The announcement also stated that the objective had been to attack and murder civilians in Netiv Ha'asara, a farming community north of the Gaza Strip.

July 27: A rocket struck a community in the western Negev, Palestinians fired two mortar shells which hit close to security fence in central Gaza, and two additional mortar shells landed in a community in the western Negev, causing a fire.

July 26: A rocket hit a house in Sderot, slightly wounding a woman and causing considerable property damage.

July 23: There was a direct rocket hit on a house in Kibbutz Carmia. An eight-month-old baby girl was slightly wounded and her mother and grandmother had to be treated for shock; considerable damage was done to the building.

July 22: A rocket hit the Sapir College near Sderot, slightly wounding an Israeli woman.
