Palestinsk minister dog på väg till sjukhus efter bråk

En palestinsk minister, Ziad Abu Ein, dog i dag på väg till sjukhus efter att ha deltagit i bråk och  protester på västbanken.
 Omständigheterna är ännu oklara. Uppgifter från israeliska armén säger att det var fråga om en hjärtattack,vittnen säger att han fått slag eller stötar mot bröstet.
De fredsälskande palestinska ledarna har sin uppfattning klar. Abbas kallar händelsen för en barbarisk akt och lovar vidta lämpliga åtgärder mot Israel. Saeb Erekat kallar händelsen för mord och andra hotar med att allt säkerhetssamarbete med Israel kommer att avbrytas.
Allt naturligtvis sagt av ansvarsfulla ledare för att lugna ner stämningarna.

Efter obduktionen ger de palestinska och israeliska myndigheterna motstridiga uppgifter om dödsorsaken.Palestinierna säger att minister Ziad Abu Ein dog på grund av han blivit slagen, inandats tårgas och inte fått rätt vård.
Israeliska myndigheter säger att obduktionen visade att Ziad redan tidigare hade problem med hjärtat och den stressade situationen antagligen bidrog till att utlösa en hjärtattack.

Inget har ännu framkommit som skulle tyda på att Ziad utsattes för mera våld än vad som kan förväntas när man konfronterar soldater som har till uppgift att förhindra en att ta sig igenom en avspärrning.

" Israeli and Palestinian officials issued conflicting accounts on Thursday over the results of an autopsy on a Palestinian minister who died after being shoved and grabbed by the neck by an Israeli policeman at a West Bank protest on Wednesday.

Hussein al-Sheikh, a top Palestinian official, told Reuters that Jordanian and Palestinian doctors involved in the late night examination of the body said Ziad Abu Ein, 55, had died from being struck, inhaling tear gas and not receiving prompt medical attention.

The Health Ministry in Jerusalem said on Thursday that Dr. Chen Kugel, head of the Forensic Institute at Abu Kabir in Tel Aviv, and Dr. Mia Forman participated in the autopsy along with Palestinian and Jordanian pathologists. The death of the minister was caused by the “blockage of the main coronary arteries that deliver oxygenated blood to the heart muscle caused by hemorrhaging under the plaque layer. The change in the layer (bleeding) can be caused by stress,” the ministry said.

“There were signs of minor hemorrhaging in the muscles and of local pressure on the neck,” it continued. “The deceased suffered from ischemic heart disease, and in his coronary arteries, there were layers of plaque that blocked more than 80 percent of the vessels. There were also old scars that showed the deceased suffered from coronary blockages in the past.” The ministry said his fragile heart condition caused him to be more sensitive to stress, the report said.

There were signs of the performance of resuscitation as well. “One must wait for the report on the medical treatment he received to determine more solid conclusions in the matter."
